Tax Benefits

The financial benefits of having your staff participate in our learnerships include the SARS S12H Learnership Allowance, an additional tax deduction employers can claim when calculating taxable income.

The allowance applies to expenditure on training and learnerships.

The S12H allowance consists of two parts:

Annual Allowance:
This can be claimed for each year of assessment in which the learner participates in the learnership. If the agreement was not in effect for the full year, the allowance is prorated accordingly.

Completion Allowance:
A one-time allowance available in the year of assessment when the learner successfully completes the registered learnership agreement. It is claimed in full, regardless of the completion month, and can be claimed in addition to the annual allowance for that year.

Please note that the S12H Learnership Allowance is only available for registered learnerships entered into on or before 1 April 2024  and completed by 30 June 2027.

BBBEE Points
Skills Development

Scoring well in terms of the Skills Development element of the BBBEE scorecard is vital for  entities that are classified as either Generic or Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSE) entities.

Skills Development expenditure often comprises the biggest cost associated in becoming BBBEE compliant.

*FUEL has sourced an expert Skills Development consultant for the fuel retail sector who sits on the PLC board to provide you with professional guidance if needed.
